Kisha's AirBnB for Shy & Sensitive Men by Owen Sieffre

“Loss of life and feeling lost are a part of life. What matters is finding your peace.”

After ending his toxic situationship. Tariq is left feeling burned out & extremely touch starved from his past relationship. So, when his friend puts him in touch with an airBnB that may be able to help "heal" him, Tariq is left feeling intrigued.

I debated about writing a review about this book, but I wanted to make my reading experience of this book worth it.

On a whim at some point last year I decided to request this title from @netgalley. I had never heard of this authors work before, the premise of this story sounded intriguing & it was a novella, which I often like to read as palette cleansers.

Despite what we are often presented with in fiction & real life, Black Men aren't often as sure of themselves as we are led to believe. They often have little room to be their true authentic selves, and in some cases they often emulate the toxicity of Masculinity that is spread by others & society, stifling their ability to be free in who they truly are.

I wanted that aspect to be honed in on a lot more, rather than this sordid representation of a man attempting to find himself in a woman and/or sexual intimacy. Sex is great, but intimacy can be found in so many other ways outside of the physical.

The dialogue was shockingly bad & extremely cringe worthy. Which led to this book not feeling believable in the slightest. It is such a shame as the book itself highlights a topic that I love reading about & very rarely get to see as a focus within fiction: Sensitive Black Men.

I also didn't appreciate that Kisha had to give up so much of her life & her body to heal these "broken men", we do too much of that in real life, can we find a new approach?

Anyway, I say all this to say...
